About

This website is maintained by Michael C. Abonitalla a 5th generation of Juan Jabonitalla and Feliza Salcedo Clan of Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City.

It was first dedicated to my Abonitalla family of Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City, and the Clan of Faustino Abonitalla and Cristina Saluper. As I uncovered the roots of the Abonitalla Clan this website is now dedicated to the Clan of Abonitalla and Salcedo of Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City.

Barangay Kauswagan was called before Barrio Balahutao as our ancestors first set foot in the Northern part of Mindanao now called Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. Our first-generation ancestors are Juan Jabonitalla and Feliza Salcedo who traveled all the way from Ilocos in the Northern Part of the Island of Luzon, Philippines.

They bear fruit to have 5 children namely: Ignacio, Faustino, Miguel, Leoncia, and Bonifacio.

The family of Faustino and Cristina bear fruit to the following large families:

Juan Abonitalla Clan

Teodorico Abonitalla Clan

Petra ‘Olis’ Abonitalla-Llausas Clan

Bonifacio Abonitalla Clan

Felicitas Abonitalla – Sabal Clan

Eusebia Abonitalla – Ellevera Clan

The Abonitalla family name is a native of Cagayan de Oro in the Kauswagan area. Our great-great-grandfather in the name of Faustino Abonitalla+ married Cristina Saluper+, an Australian-British descent, settled in the eastern part of Misamis Oriental and those most of the clan’s descendants are living in the Lagonglong or Balingasag area in Misamis Oriental which separated us from most of the Abonitalla in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City.

Abonitalla Family of Nazareth (2nd Street)

The Abonitalla of Nazareth is a descendant of Teodorico Abonitalla+ and Placida Dagala+ whose parents are Faustino and Cristina.

One of the offspring is our grandfather, Miguel Abonitalla+ who was married to Liberty Orcullo of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, a daughter of a long-time Mayor in Claveria in the 1950s to 70’s. The early family lived in Claveria with Miguel Abonitalla serving as Principal in the elementary school of Hinaplanan after World War two ended. My grandfather served as a United States Army Forces lieutenant in the Far East (USAFFE) during the 2nd world War. As a school principal, he also helps manage the family-owned cattle ranch with 700 cows at any time to tend over a thousand hectares of pasture land. They have eight children, Nestor (Boie), Virginia (Bebe), Sonia, Lourdes (tata), Marivic, Sarah, Gilbert (Edu), and Cecilia+ (Inday). In the early 60s, the family settled back in Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City.

This blog site is maintained by Michael Casiño Abonitalla, eldest son of Nestor married to Gonzala Laotoco Casiño of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

This blog site is a tribute to our family, friends, relatives, and all kagay-anons in the city, in other parts of the Philippines, and abroad.
